The Indiana Municipal Insurance Program (IMIP) was established in 1998 to provide property and liability products to Indiana cities, towns, counties and special districts. The IMIP has grown steadily since 1998 and offers its products exclusively through Indiana’s independent agency system. In November of 2016, we added a Library Program, which offers all lines of insurance to libraries across the state. Lastly, in February of 2017, we rolled out our Public School Program offering all lines of insurance to public schools.
In 2002, in response to a major insurance carrier abandoning the school insurance market, we worked with veteran school officials, educational associations and other experts from within the insurance industry to form a not-for-profit. In a period of 30 days, we helped to offer insurance coverage to all school districts that had coverage terminated effective February 1, 2002.
In addition to traditional coverage, we have been able to meet member insurance needs by developing highly specialized coverages. During the past 15 years, we have helped develop a wide services and coverages to address the exposures and insurance needs facing our members.
